The RDKB is currently seeking a Lead Wildfire Mitigation Specialist for a 1 year, full-time contract. Reporting to the Emergency Program Coordinator, the Lead Wildfire Mitigation Specialists (WMS) will be responsible for the facilitation of the FireSmart BC Wildfire Mitigation Program. The Lead WMS will support the work of the WMS team, reviewing assessments and providing scheduling and knowledge support. As the lead, this position will also support the Emergency Program Coordinator to organize and deliver FireSmart education at a variety of community events and education sessions.

The Lead WMS position will suit experienced fire, forestry and natural resource management personnel. Preference will be given to qualified candidates with prior FireSmart experience, as well as candidates with supervisory experience in wildland and structural firefighting. The ideal candidate will enjoy working both autonomously and as well as part of a remote team, to provide excellent service to their community and help advance FireSmart and other Emergency Preparedness objectives across our region.
Successful applicants who do not already possess the required FireSmart training and certifications will be required to complete mandatory training upon hiring.

Position Information

Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week, flexible schedule to suit demand
Compensation: $38.00/hour
