OVERVIEW
The RDKB is seeking applications to fill a Senior Planner position in the Planning and Development team, on a temporary full-time basis. Expected to commence in September 2024 and run for 1 year, this contract will provide coverage for a permanent employee on a maternity leave. Joining a established team, the Senior Planner will be responsible for long-range planning projects and initiatives including OCPs and Zoning Bylaws, involving research, reporting and public consultation. Reporting to the Manager of Planning and Development, the Senior Planner will also assist with processing complex applications for amendments to planning bylaws.
This opportunity will suit experienced planners looking to take on meaningful project work and spend time in the beautiful Kootenay Boundary region. SELECTION CRITERIA
- Bachelor degree from a recognized university in Planning or related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with graduate level qualifications.
- 3 years relevant planning experience, preferably in a local and/or rural government setting
- Eligibility for membership with the Planning Institute of British Columbia or the Canadian Institute of Planners
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable land use legislation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills and the ability to work well independently and with a team
- Effective skills with the Microsoft Office suite of programs, as well as publishing and mapping programs
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
