The RDKB is currently seeking applications to fill three (3) seasonal, full-time Wildfire Mitigation Specialist positions across the region.

Reporting to the Emergency Program Coordinator, Wildfire Mitigation Specialists (WMS) are responsible for the facilitation of the FireSmart Home Partners Program within their area of designation. Wildfire Mitigations Specialists ensure that homeowners can access detailed FireSmart home assessments which enable residents to reduce their risk of wildfire. Specialists will also attend community events, such as farmers markets and fairs, to provide education and enrolment opportunities in their communities. 

Each Wildfire Mitigation Specialist will work within and provide service across one of three regions:

  • Greater Trail area 
  • Greater Grand Forks and Christina Lake area
  • West Boundary area (Area E, West Boundary to Big White)

The Wildfire Mitigation Specialist position will suit experienced fire, forestry and natural resource management personnel. The ideal candidate will enjoy working both autonomously and as well as part of a remote team, to provide excellent service to their community. 

These are seasonal positions, likely working from June – October. Successful applicants who do not already possess the required FireSmart training and certifications will be required to complete mandatory training, dates to be confirmed.

Position Information

Status:                              Seasonal, Full-Time

Hours of work:                  35 hours per week, flexible schedule to suit demand 

Compensation:                 $32.80/hour plus mileage for required travel
